Homemade Acne Treatments That Work For Sensitive Skin

When considering homemade acne treatments it is important to know that they sometimes take longer to work, however they can be quite effective and are much less likely to irritate skin, especially if your skin is sensitive.  You can try a few different homemade acne treatments and remedies at the same time, however you should try to stick to one and or no more than two.  Use them for a few days and remember that consistency and patience are key to treating acne successfully.  Treat skin everyday and remember that sometimes it might take weeks for it to begin working, so don’t get frustrated and give up if you don’t see results right away.

Homemade Acne Treatments

Ice CubesIce cubes have been used to make acne less noticeable in some cases.  They will shrink the redness and inflammation of a pimple, making it harder to notice.

Baking SodaMaking a facial mask using baking soda is one homemade acne treatment that has been proven effective in treating acne.  Mix some baking soda into a paste and apply it to your face/skin and then let it dry.  Once it is dry you want to rinse it off with pure water.  If you have sensitive skin and feel that the mask might irritate your skin then try dabbing the paste onto pimples individually instead of using the entire mask, let them dry and then rinse off.

Oatmeal - Oatmeal masks are easy to make and help soothe the face and treat acne.  Grind a handful of oatmeal in a coffee grinder or a blender and then mix it into a paste using a bit of water.  Apply it to your face and let it soothe and rejuvenate your skin.

Egg yolkUsing egg yolks to make a facial mask can be effective in treating acne.  If done once a day for 7 days, it is said to be most effective.  Beat an egg yolk and apply to face using a makeup brush or a paintbrush.  Let it dry for 10 minutes.  If you are allergic to eggs, then it is best that you don’t use this treatment.

Ultraviolet lightIf you are going to use an ultraviolet light to get rid of acne make sure that you use it slowly and close your eyes.   Do not use excessively.  The ultraviolet light can help dry acne.

Raw white potatoesSlicing raw white potatoes and placing it on top of your acne breakouts helps heal acne and also reduces swelling and inflammation.  Leave the potato on your face for 5-7 minutes for best results.

Other things that can help people with sensitive skin avoid acne

Having acne can be a pain!  If you have sensitive skin you may need to play it safe and even avoid some things that others may not have to avoid as certain things can irritate your skin further and cause redness, breakouts and inflammation to occur.  Drinking lots of water and staying hydrated is very important when treating acne.  Also avoiding foods or products that seem to make acne worse is never a bad idea.  Don’t use things like loofas to scrub your face.  If you are going to use homemade treatments to treat your acne, try to use remedies that don’t include strong ingredients that could burn your skin or cause it to become inflamed. Get plenty of rest and exercise and maintain a healthy diet.  If you follow all of these steps you should be well on your way to treating and preventing acne successfully in no time.
