How to Treat Your Acne Once and for All

If you have acne you have joined the millions of people who are on a frustrated search for a cure once and for all. Acne is a skin condition that manifests in the form of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and scars. It typically effects the back, face, neck, and arms. Many people with acne run to the drug store to buy one of the many expensive creams, scrubs, cleansers, or pills that promise deliverance from the terrible skin malady. But maybe it’s time you considered something a bit more serious and powerful in order to get rid of your acne for good.

One of the more serious options for treating your acne is a laser procedure in which doctors use a precision guided laser to remove the layers of your skin which are filled with bacteria and clogged pores. By burning away these layers of bad skin the acne is gone for good. As painful as it may seem it isn’t at all any may take anywhere from just fifteen minutes to an hour. Before you consider such a serious alternative, consult your doctor as there can be side effects. It is good however to get acne early, when you are still young. Acne left untreated can lead to scarring in adulthood which can be even more frustrating and difficult to get rid of.

If you do have acne scarring, there is no need to worry. Thankfully we live in a day and age where technology has the answer. The best way to treat acne scarring is the biological way, that is to get something called dermabrasion. You’ve probably heard the word somewhere before, but it is simply a procedure which removes the top layer of the skin by something called sanding, therefore removing the scar completely.

Other methods of treating acne scarring include microdermabrasion which is not quite as serious a procedure as dermabrasion is. There is also laser therapy which reduces but not usually completely gets rid of acne scarring all together. Chemical therapy removes dead skin cells so that the scarring is not as visible.

And of course there are regular topical treatments, most of which are over the counter and have been known to achieve results. Before you jump ahead to serious procedures such as dermabrasion, it’s good to consider less serious methods such as skin creams, facial scrubs, and oral/antibiotic treatments first. And of course consult your doctor before deciding on any type of treatment.
