Acne is an embarrassing, frustrating condition of the skin. People will do almost anything to prevent it. Most people get so caught up in what they can actively do to prevent and treat it that they don’t consider what they shouldn’t do in order to prevent it. Sometimes it can be as simple as not doing certain things, such as eating some foods.
First of all, you’ll want to avoid eating foods that have a high level of acidity. These food tend to raise your PH level and clog the pores. Although for the most party fruits and vegetables are good for you, there are certain ones that aren’t because of their high acidity level, such as lentils, plums, corn, rice, wheat germ, and currants.
As far as drinks go, avoid a lot of caffeine and sugar, namely coffee and soda. If you must drink them, get non-caffeinated drinks and don’t put a lot of sugar into your coffee. As far as alcohol goes, ideally you shouldn’t at all for multiple reasons, but if you have acne then for the sake of your skin if nothing else.
Dairy products such as butter, ice cream, processed cheese, butter and ice milk are all foods you should avoid all together or keep to a minimum.
To clear your acne through nutrition, you don’t have to go vegan, but you should know the animal products and by-products to keep to a minimum, including: bacon, beef, pork, salmon, lamb, fish, clams, cod, mussels, sausage, scallops, turkey, venison, shrimp and lobster.
Now for the foods that you should be eating. Fruits such as apples and oranges as well as most vegetables are good for you to eat. Drinking lots of water is a great idea. At least eight glasses is recommended by most doctors.
